1. What is upgrade2europe?
upgrade2europe is the result of the EU project of the same name: an integrated digital learning tool with six products, with which users can learn the necessary skills for the Europeanisation of their organisations one step at a time on the job and apply them directly in their daily work (work-based learning approach). Training providers can use the materials and a sample curriculum for training programmes.
As well as an analysis tool, upgrade2europe offers further tools for organisational development and a wealth of information on the topic of Europeanisation. The integrated digital learning tool takes a holistic approach with its six products:
- A self-analysis tool for organisations to determine their level of ‘institutional readiness’
- A handbook with various tools that can be used directly in day-to-day work for organisational development
- An email course that offers an entertaining introduction to the topic of Europeanisation
- Learning videos to inspire, educate and serve as a further sources of information
- A curriculum for developing training programmes
- A process model containing the theoretical and methodological foundations on which upgrade2europe was developed

4. How can I make the best use of upgrade2europe?
If you are considering whether to start a process of Europeanisation or want to know where you currently stand in an ongoing process of Europeanisation, then you should begin with the upgrade2europe self-analysis tool. With this tool, you can quickly assess your organisation’s current ‘institutional readiness’ for Europe. The result will be a comprehensive individual evaluation with various tips and recommendations for your next concrete steps.
In the evaluation of your self-assessment, you will also learn which of the 15 tools from the upgrade2europe handbook will best support you in the areas that you should prioritise. The upgrade2europe handbook is designed to provide you with at least one practical tool for all essential Europeanisation tasks your organisation is facing, enabling you to begin optimising your current situation without delay.
If you want to learn more about some of the central tools from the upgrade2europe handbook whilst investing minimal time, we recommend starting with the upgrade2europe email course. The email course offers an easy and gradual introduction to the topic of Europeanisation. The ten emails you will receive over a ten-week period provide an engaging introduction to the methodology of upgrade2europe. They also offer initial practical tips on how to best use the tools in your organisation.
Another way into the topic of Europeanisation is provided by the upgrade2europe learning videos. These videos give you insights into the opportunities and challenges that come with a process of Europeanisation. You can use the videos as a first source of inspiration, as a place to find information during your process of Europeanisation, or as a supplementary learning resource for an upgrade2europe workshop.
The upgrade2europe curriculum was explicitly developed for trainers and educational providers. The curriculum provides the basics for designing workshops and training on the topic of Europeanisation. It describes the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully manage a process of Europeanisation. The curriculum was developed based on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) level 5.
Last but not least comes the upgrade2europe process model. This document is of interest to those who want to learn more about the methodological foundations of upgrade2europe. With its four stages of development, the process model brings structure to the upgrade2europe process of organisational development and provides the basis for recommending specific tools and tips for each organisation’s individual development.
